Who can submit a Litter Announcement?
Only current, paid subscribers to the FBRL
may list a Litter Announcement. Litter Announcements will
link to their regular FBRL listing for full contact information.
If you are not a current member in good standing, please
go to the New Cattery Signup FAQ.
How much does a Litter Announcement cost?
A Litter Announcement costs $15.00 US and
runs for three months. Litter Announcements must
be prepaid by credit card only (Visa, MasterCard,
American Express, Discover).
You may discontinue a Litter Announcement
at any time you wish before its expiration date. The cost
of the ad is a flat-rate insertion rate so credit or refunds
will not be given for unused time.
How long will my Litter Announcement run? When do I know
it is about to run out?
Each Litter Announcement will carry an
expiration date so you will know when it is due to expire.
Litter Announcements will run for three months and will
be removed when their date expires. If you wish to re-list
a Litter Announcement, you will need to pay attention to
your own expiration date and resubmit it. I will not be
sending out renewal notices. Litter Announcements generally
will have a short "shelf life" so probably most
will be a one-time deal anyway.
What information will a Litter Announcement contain?
The Litter Announcement will list the posting
date, breeder's name, cattery name, location, breed, names
and colors of parents, date of birth, and a short free-form
section for information about the breed itself. It will
link to the breeder's FBRL listing for full contact and
general cattery information. It will also list an expiration
date.
You can see a sample
litter announcement here. (This will open in
a separate window).
The free form section is restricted to
600 characters. This doesn't sound like a lot, but the paragraph
above is 280 characters, so you will have about three times
that amount to play with. The sample litter announcement's
About the Cattery section contains only 380 characters,
so you actually have a lot to play with.
I will not include prices in Litter Announcements.
I do not list prices because I do not want to give people
the impression that the FBRL sells cats or kittens directly.
Prices are between you and the buyer.
Can I change my Litter Announcement to reflect what kittens
are and are not reserved?
A Litter Announcement is meant to be an
announcement of the litter's arrival, so it will reflect
what was in the litter when born. Therefore, I will not
be keeping track of who has what available and what is or
is not reserved. The Litter Announcement should not need
modifying after it is posted, as all changeable information
(email, telephone number, etc) will be maintained on the
regular FBRL listing. I will change locations if you move,
however. Litter Announcements will be edited for spelling,
punctuation, and grammar.
If you made a mistake on your Litter Announcement
and need to fix it, just
send me an email.
May I list multiple litters? May I list more than one
litter in a single Litter Announcement?
A Litter Announcement is meant to list
one litter of one breed, with one set of parents. All FBRL-listed
breeders may take out as many Litter Announcement ads as
they wish and such Litter Announcements will be grouped
together accordingly.
If you wish to list multiple litters under
a single ad, you are certainly welcome to mention other
litters you have available, space permitting. However, an
ad will only be listed under the breed of the primary litter
identity. For example, if you list the primary litter of
Persians and you mention in your ad that you also have an
Exotic litter, it will only appear on the Persian page and
only your Persian main listing will show a Litter Icon ad
and link. It will not be cross posted under Exotics and
linked off your Exotic listing as well; you would need to
pay for a separate ad for that.
In what order will you list Litter Announcements?
Litter Announcements will be listed in order by location
first. If there is more than one Litter Announcement in
a location, I will list in alphabetical order by the breeder's
last name.
Will people be able to see that I have a Litter
Announcement from my main listing?
People viewing the main FBRL breeder listings
will see a Litter Announcement button on the main listing
of anyone who has a posted Litter Announcement. They will
be able to click this button to see the announcement, and
clicking the "Contact Information for (Cattery)"
link will take them back to your main listing. The button
looks like this:

How often will you list Litter Announcements?
New Litter Announcements will be posted 3-5 times a week.
A Litter Announcement will expire three
months after it is posted. For my own convenience, the expiration
date will be the Monday following the time it would expire.
For example, if it is set to expire on Friday the 10th,
the actual posted expiration date will be moved to Monday
the 13th. That way I only have to remove expired listings
once a week.
